Too much hair in one go and the curl won’t stick. If you’re used to curling your hair with a curling iron, it’s easier to start off with lesser amounts of hair when using a flat iron. You need to separate your hair into small portions (for lack of a better word).Rather than travelling the world and meeting new people, I would learn to curl my hair with a straightener and spend less time on Instagram (the latter of which has yet to be accomplished).Īfter binging my fair share of YouTube and TikTok explainer videos, I learned the perfect beachy flat iron curls require three things: "Professional or salon-grade tools are always the best." Without being able to control how hot your iron is, you won't be able to adjust the heat according to your hair's specific needs. As a result of a rather bleak last few years, I have kept my yearly goals within reach. "My biggest piece of advice would be to invest in the best tools possible," says Powell. If you haven't been using a flat iron with adjustable temperature controls, get your hands on one before you next intend to straighten your hair. Your crown area may be the curliest section, which would require higher heat, but the hair on the sides of your head may be straighter, so turn the heat down when pressing that section. and for natural hair, the lower the heat, the better."įor women with natural hair, finding out that they have two or three different textures on one head may be a shock, but it's not uncommon. "You never want to go over 400 degrees for the blow dryer or the flat iron. "Be mindful of how much heat you are putting on your hair because once heat damage is done, there is no going back," says Powell. Just because your iron heats up to 450 degrees doesn't mean you have to go that high. One has to simply trust that Keven Feige has this map all worked out. How anything that’s come out since End Game connects to anything else is anyone’s guess at this point. Phases One through Three were relatively clear - create The Avengersand set up the Infinity War fight with Thanos. After the fun but also confounding Thor: Love and Thunder, you’re left to wonder how any of what we saw here ties into anything else. Nine years was a damn long time between movies and I hope we don’t have to wait that long again for another Sam Raimi-helmed adventure.īut with the MCU in a weird flux of setting up a multiverse while also apparently building towards the Secret Wars storyline, I do wish the roadmap to where all of these individual films and Disney+ series were going was clearer. Scarlet Witch was genuinely scary and I feel that’s in large part because Raimi instinctively knows how to stage a fright, pull it off, but then make you laugh all within a few seconds. I loved the film’s horror elements and its embrace of gore, even if it was toned down for a PG-13 audience. Raimi’s stylings brought a refreshing visual punch to this world of magic and witchcraft. While bumpy in a few places, I think Raimi ultimately elevated the potential for the Doctor Strange franchise - should we get any further solo adventures. Trouble spots aside, in the Multiverse of Madness works. Some clumsy exposition, a rushed pace, and the number of obvious pickup shots of the cast standing in front of a blurry non-descript but vaguely familiar background are all hallmarks. Reportedly Raimi was virtually rewriting the movie on the set and if that’s true it shows. As much as I thoroughly enjoyed this film, I'll admit it's a bit bumpy. He took his best sensibilities from his Evil Dead films and Drag Me to Hell and poured them into a Doctor Strange adventure. For the dark themes and ideas presented with this gonzo take on the MCU, Sam Raimi was a great choice to take over the franchise. I enjoyed Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness quite a bit. |
